The Common Core Standards for English Language Arts and Math are the basis for all curriculum taught in Kentucky schools. These standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so that teachers and families know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers.
All students must have a transportation tag on their backpacks and must bring a backpack to school every day.
If you want to make a transportation change for your child, it must be submitted in writing no later than 1 p.m. on the day of the change. You may send a note with your signature, email a photo of a written note, scan the note with your signature, or fax a note to the front office (859-422-3589). Email attendance clerk Keri Alcaraz before 1 p.m.
Changes cannot be made over the phone. If changing to a bus rider, remember to include the bus number and stop/intersection on the note.
The Dolphin Club is an after-school childcare program provided by Southern Elementary. It operates when school is in session. If you have questions or concerns, please email Luke Calton.
Our schools are closed Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. Students return to class on Monday, Oct. 7.
